City of Wanneroo fire permits cancelled

BURNING permits will be cancelled in the City of Wanneroo as of midnight tomorrow night.

Only City fire services and the Department of Parks and Wildlife will be permitted to carry out prescribed burns from Wednesday.

A City of Wanneroo spokeswoman said conditions had become risky.

“Seasonal conditions have seen an increase in fire behaviour similar to high risk bushfire periods,” she said.

The situation will be reviewed to determine when it is safe for permits to return.
