A BOOK celebrating local families involved in the It’s All About Play program was launched this week.

The City of Wanneroo launched the book, Together We Play, at Girrawheen Library on September 4 and will have copies available for loan from all its libraries.

It features a collection of stories and photographs of families who regularly attend sessions at the library.

The free, multi-sensory, hands-on program provides an engaging environment at Girrawheen, Clarkson, Wanneroo, Yanchep and Alkimos libraries for families with children up to five years old to play and learn together.

It is a key initiative of the City’s Early Childhood Strategic Plan and highlights the importance of developing support frameworks and activities to ensure all children in the City reach their full potential.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said libraries were ideal places for parents, carers and children to learn, play, build, read, sing and create.

“When the City of Wanneroo launched It’s All About Play at Wanneroo library in 2016, we had no idea how popular it would become,” she said.

“Two years later, it’s wonderful to see hundreds of families embracing the program which offers valuable early learning and development opportunities for children through play.”
