City of Wanneroo revises Strategic Community Plan

Laura PondWanneroo Times

THE City of Wanneroo has revised a section of its Strategic Community Plan.

Amendments to the plan’s vision, outcomes and strategies were adopted at the November 7 council meeting.

As part of a comprehensive review, the City undertook research to better understand current and future factors that would impact it including rapid expansion from population growth, economical changes, and environmental effects of climate change and urban development.

It also ran four workshops with councillors and community consultation activities such as forums, focus groups and a survey.

The revised vision, outcomes and strategies took into account themes identified by the community, council priorities and changes facing the City.

According to the report, the amended vision “better reflects the strategic direction and future based on the prioritised aspirations of the community”.

The adopted outcomes and strategies include encouraging healthy and active lifestyles, creating distinctive places based on identity of areas, connecting communities, developing strong economic hubs locally and near transport, activating Yanchep as a future city of the north, minimising impacts of climate change and providing transparent and accountable governance and leadership.
