PROSPECTIVE changes to a City of Wanneroo policy affecting telecommunications infrastructure are available for public comment until December 13.
In a review of the previous policy, the City plans to revise existing provisions and introduce requirements.
The definition for telecommunications infrastructure will remain the same as “any part of the infrastructure of a telecommunications network and includes any line, equipment, apparatus, tower, antenna, tunnel, duct, hole, pit or other structure used, or for use, in or in connection with a telecommunications network”.
However, the report proposes a change in terminology from ‘planning approval’ of telecommunications infrastructure to ‘development approval’.
The City is also requesting a provision that requires the applicant erect a sign (or signs) displaying notice of the application on the lot.
The City would also display the application on its website and publish a notice in a local newspaper within seven days of the consultation period.
