PLANS for a water playground in Madeley are due to be considered by Wanneroo Council this month.

The October council briefing agenda includes plans for a $400,000 aquatic play space near the Dinosaur Park in Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex.

“The draft concept is based on a traditional zero-depth splash pad similar to the facility provided at Aquamotion and aims to provide a range of interactive experiences for all ages,” the report said.

“The water play concept is also intended to reflect the prehistoric or dinosaur themes of the neighbouring Dinosaur Park and will include a number of highlight features such as prehistoric creature elevated sprays, botanical (tree) elevated sprays and various ground sprays and jets.”

If the council endorses the proposal at its October 16 meeting, the City plans to build the play space between February and June next year.

The report also noted it would cost an extra $40,000 for shade sails and proposed that be listed for consideration in the City’s 2019-20 Budget.

It said the City received two submissions during a four-week consultation period in August and September after sending letters to 1666 households within 400m and emails to groups using the sporting complex.
