City of Wanneroo to host June council meeting on 21st, a week earlier than scheduled

THE City of Wanneroo will hold its June council meeting a week later than planned.

The June 21 meeting has been pushed back to June 28 to coincide with a special council meeting, where the first item on the agenda will be the 2016-17 Budget.

The decision to change dates was prompted by a clash with the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) 2016 National General Assembly, which Mayor Tracey Roberts and chief executive Daniel Simms will attend in Canberra from June 19-22.

The council agreed to the change on April 26, with the meeting to start at 6pm rather than the usual 7pm start.

“This would mean that no deputations could be received prior to the ordinary council meeting on that evening,” a report to the council said.

“However, the Mayor has discretion to provide greater opportunity during public question time to enable members of the public to contribute.”
