City welcomes Big Day Out

Mayor Troy Pickard said having an international headline act like Pearl Jam ‘in our own backyard’ reinforced Joondalup as ‘a viable and attractive alternative to other entertainment precincts in Perth’.

‘About 30,000 people are expected to attend this year’s BDO. Many of them will be spending money in the Joondalup city centre on the day, which will have a positive impact on the local economy,’ he said.

The City would work with Arena Joondalup and organisers to ensure minimal impact on nearby residential and commercial properties.

This would include a requirement to develop and implement traffic and pedestrian management plans.

A VenuesWest spokesman said they would comply with the regulations provided by the City.
