Classic sure to be a real beauty

The cast of 63 students have spent the last several months preparing for the production about a cruel prince who is turned into a hideous beast.

To break the spell the Beast must learn to love another and earn love in return before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose.

Director Cheryl Peak said the large-scale musical gave students the opportunity to develop their social skills.

‘During rehearsals the students experienced a range of emotions through which they learn to support and encourage one another,’ she said.

‘The experience encourages those who are self-motivated learners to become persistent, tolerant and compassionate of others.’

She said the performance gave students and teachers the chance to get to know each other outside the classroom.

Performances will be held October 24 and 25 at Tapping Primary School.
