Clear majority vote for new deputy mayor of Wanneroo

Elected to the role at a special council meeting on October 23, the Central ward councillor was first elected to the council in 2009.

She was also the Wanneroo MLA from 2001 to 2008.

At the meeting last month, 11 elected members voted for Cr Guise to become the deputy mayor, with the other nominee, Hugh Nguyen securing two votes.

Congratulating Cr Guise on her election, Mayor Tracey Roberts said she was “an active member of the City and an advocate for many significant causes within the community”.

Mrs Roberts also acknowledged the work of outgoing deputy mayor Dot Newton and thanked her for her assistance during her two-year tenure.

She thanked Cr Nguyen for his interest in the position.
