Year 6 students Mickayla Dal Pozzo, Chad MacPherson, Naomi Plewright, Kevin Dang and Allie Archel celebrate the opening of the new Year 7 buildings at their college.

Education Minister Peter Collier and Wanneroo MLA Paul Miles attended the opening of the $4.3 million building that includes five new classrooms, a science laboratory, science preparation area, staffroom and computer hub.

Mr Miles said he was delighted that the new wing had been completed slightly ahead of time and on budget.

‘I’m very confident that under the experienced leadership of principal Pauline White, the first intake of Year 7s at Wanneroo will readily adapt to a secondary education campus,’ Mr Miles said.

The State Government’s $229 million capital works program will provide teaching facilities for almost 18,000 Year 7 students who will move to public secondary schools next year.
