The plan, endorsed at this month’s council meeting, aims to address the challenges facing the local community over the next five years and looks at the themes of community participation, leadership, assets and infrastructure and community capacity building.
Key challenges include understanding and projecting future community needs, financial and other barriers that prevent participation in community activities, maintaining community participation in local organisations and groups, connecting leaders within the community and succession planning for community leaders.
Some strategies the City will consider include exploring how the community engages with the City and what part social media and online content plays, as well as working to strengthen community groups.
