Community reference group to be held about Wanneroo Rd and Ocean Reef Rd interchange

Lucy JarvisWanneroo Times

MAIN Roads WA has invited people to lodge expressions of interest for a community reference group for the $65 million interchange at Wanneroo Road and Ocean Reef Road.

The Federal Government has allocated $52 million, with the State Government funding the remaining $13 million for the project, which will include a bridge over Ocean Reef Road and on and off-ramps managed with traffic signals.

Community members can submit written applications to be part of the group by February 28, and, according to the Main Roads website, “those living closest to the project area” would receive preference.

The group will help identify, discuss and provide advice on the community issues associated with the project as well as exchange information between Main Roads, the contractor and the community.

It will also provide representative community and stakeholder input into the construction phase of the project.

Main Road plans to notify successful applicants in early March and hold the first meeting in the project area.

It expects to award a contract for construction in June and works to start in late 2018 and finish in 2020.
