Consecration is cause for joy

Bishop Kay Goldsworthy and acting parish priest Rev Onesimo Yugusuk led celebrations for more than 90 past and present parishioners.

Guests enjoyed photographic displays, a buffet lunch, cake and games.

The church community grew rapidly from humble beginnings in 1990 when the fledgling congregation first met at Poseidon Primary School.

Its inauguration as a parish was in 1991 to serve Connolly, Currambine, Ocean Reef, Iluka, Burns Beach, Kinross and Heathridge.

The church’s consecration was on July 25, 1993.

Bishop Goldsworthy described the church as a place of strength and grace for many people and a sign of hope for the community.

Guests included Joondalup MLA Jan Norberger.
