Four seniors, including Pearsall’s Susan Joy, and four school children, including Iluka’s Joshua Wenz (9), have been named as finalists in this year’s Big Bethanie Bake-Off.
The competition, which aims to close the intergenerational gap between seniors and youngsters, asked participants to submit their family recipes online.
Entries were judged on creativity, appeal of dish, nutritional content and the story behind their favourite recipe.
Ms Joy’s banana bread recipe earned her a spot in the finals, while Joshua’s hazelnut cake got him over the line.
