Council considers appeal for hall of fame

At last month’s Joondalup Council meeting, Cr Russ Fishwick received unanimous support to request a report on ‘establishing a Joondalup sporting hall of fame to honour the elite sporting achievements of residents from the district of Joondalup’.

‘I thought it would be a good idea to have a hall of fame and I thought the location, although not cast in concrete, may be the Craigie Leisure Centre, so as you enter the centre, or on an appropriate wall there, we have plaques or whatever administration comes up with to honour such greatness,’ he said.

He said it would cover all sports from ‘lawn bowls to Test cricket to AFL footy and international sports, such as Formula 1 car racing’.
