Transport Minister Troy Buswell said there was no evidence to support claims older drivers were more dangerous on the road.

‘Older drivers are safe drivers and we are delighted that this vestige of age discrimination has been abolished,’ COTA WA chief executive Ken Marston said.

‘Road safety research shows that older drivers are involved in far fewer road accidents than any other age group.’

The council has opposed mandatory age-related driver testing for many years.
