Councillors decline to take trader’s bait

The City first refused the street trading licence on September 3 but the applicant lodged an objection to bring the issue to a council meeting. The application was to trade from a car and trailer parked in a boat trailer bay in the elevated carpark at the harbour.

A council document said the application was refused because of limited car parking availability during peak periods, resulting in a high number of parking infringement notices in the area. The City has issued 658 since October 2011.
