Three re-elected members ” Dot Newton, Dianne Guise and Brett Treby ” were joined by first-time councillors Domenic Zappa, Linda Aitken, Sabine Winton, Glynis Parker and Hugh Nguyen.
‘Those newly elected to council bring with them a wide range of experience and knowledge, which will equip them for their new roles,’ Mayor Tracey Roberts said.
‘The quality of candidates showed the depth of highly qualified people in the City of Wanneroo who are willing to stand up to seek the opportunity to serve the community.’
Mrs Roberts thanked three councillors who were not re-elected, and Ian Goodenough who retired after winning a federal seat last month.
‘Council has been operating with one less councillor due to an early resignation in 2012; as the fastest growing local government in WA it is great to have a full council again,’ she said. ‘I offer my thanks to every single person who stood for election (and) I also thank all of those who voted.
‘Local government has a direct influence on so many aspects of everyday life ” it is very important for residents to take the opportunity to have their say at the ballot box.’
Each of the councillors has been elected for four years, except Cr Treby, whose term will end in October 2015.
