THE man accused of stabbing his estranged partner to death inside Joondalup courthouse in 2016 is set to face a trial in July.

Paul Gary Turner is alleged to have killed Sarah Marie Thomas during a mediation session on December 20, 2016.

Plans for a seven-day trial were expanded to nine, commencing July 22, during a hearing in Stirling Gardens Magistrate Court this morning.

Victim’s family overwhelmed by support

His lawyer has not applied for a judge-only trial, meaning the case is set to be determined by a jury.

Previous trial dates for October last year were abandoned to allow more time for a psychiatric report to be evaluated.

Mr Turner, from Quinns Rocks, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and remains remanded in prison.

Lawyers for both sides will return to court on May 23 for an update ahead of the trial.
