Creativity impresses in City of Wanneroo art awards

BUTLER resident Christopher Young took home $2000 for his still life photography piece judged Best City of Wanneroo Resident in the City of Wanneroo annual art awards.

This year’s competition awarded more than $16,000 in prize money to entries from Nedlands, Leederville, Scarborough, Singleton, Heathridge and Watermans Bay.

Banksia Grove resident Serg Sobolev won $1000 for his computer-generated image while Jeremy Kirwan-Ward (Watermans Bay) received $7500 as the overall winner for his piece Surface to Air (Flora Terrace).

The artworks will be on display at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre until June 15 where visitors can nominate their favourite piece.Visit wanneroo.wa.gov.au for opening times.
