DARCH children hope a petition will help deliver upgrades to Belvoir Park.

Wanneroo Council recently considered a report on the 178-signature petition for extra amenities at the 2.1ha park on Belvoir Parkway.

Resident Guy Collins said children had been the driving force behind the petition, with some of their bolder suggestions for a roller coaster or water park.

“The kids drove it 95 per cent and they did most of the doorknocking,” he said.

“Most would be happy to get a water fountain at the park.”

Mr Collins said parents were keen to see lighting improved.

The council agreed to list play equipment, benches, a barbecue, drinking fountain, bike rack, security lighting and bins for consideration in the City’s long-term financial plan.

It would not consider other requests, including a basketball court expansion, trampoline, football or soccer goals, field markings, skate park and four square court.

The June 26 council report said Ashdale Park, 280m east of Belvoir, had many of the items requested.
