The long-time Craigie residents, who celebrated the milestone on May 15, said they could not have hoped for a better day.

‘We had a fabulous day; the nursing home set out a beautiful table and chairs for us and we drank Baileys with our friends Cathy and Richard,’ Mrs Cragg said.

‘We got a beautiful big bunch of flowers from (Joondalup) Mayor Troy Pickard and a letter from the Queen and Prime Minister.

‘It was wonderful, I gave him so many kisses.’

Leryda (84), also known as June, said she met Sydney (86) when they were in primary school and in their early 20s they reconnected.

‘My husband went to Japan and after he returned from the army, we went steady and got engaged,’ she said.

The couple travelled extensively in Australia and overseas before settling in Craigie 33 years ago.
