UPDATE, July 11: THE City of Wanneroo has confirmed a private company lodged the application for electronic billboards on Ocean Reef Road.

Information supplied to Community News said Linc Property would operate the sign on the basis that it benefit the Noongar Charitable Trust, which provided relief of poverty and sickness of the Noongar community.

It said the trust aimed to support projects run by Aboriginal community controlled organisations which offer a direct benefit to the Noongar community.

The proposed signs will display advertising content on a loop, with each static image on display for at least 50 seconds and no live, flashing or animated content on the screens.

EARLIER: PUBLIC consultation on plans for digital billboards in Gnangara opened this week.

The City of Wanneroo has invited feedback on the proposed 12m high signs on the corner of Ocean Reef Road and Fortitude Boulevard until July 31.

The proposal includes erection of a double-sided, large format, digital roadside sign on a monopole steel structure, or pylon.

Hindley & Associates’ designs for the signs.

One panel of the proposed sign would face eastbound traffic on Ocean Reef Road, whilst the other panel would face westbound traffic on Ocean Reef Road.

The council is expected to consider submissions with the application at a future meeting.
