Drink driver court date set

QUINNS ROCKS mother Janet Louise Kirby (47) will appear in court on drink driving charges next month in relation to a crash that killed her daughter, Lois Kirby (15).

Police said today they had charged Ms Kirby with allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.08 per cent at the time of the fatal crash on March 14.

"It is alleged at about 10pm, the woman was driving a black Jeep Cherokee on Marmion Avenue near Greyhound Drive in Merriwa when the vehicle left the road and rolled over," WA Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said.

"There were seven occupants in the vehicle, two adults and five children.

"A 15-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of injuries she received.

"A 20-year-old woman received serious injuries to her left arm which required surgery."

Ms Kirby is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on May 25.
