Duelling road priorities

Wanneroo councillors Rudi Steffens and Norm Hewer, both long-time members of the City’s roadwise advisory committee, have advocated for the upgrades to the road between Joondalup Drive and Hall Road .

They have renewed their call to the State Government to include the project in the 2013-14 Budget, after Mayor Tracey Roberts wrote to the Liberal Party prior to the State election.

Mrs Roberts said the council supported the upgrade on the Main Roads WA-managed road due to the growth of the Neerabup industrial area, opening of Indian Ocean Drive and proposed Mitchell Freeway extension.

‘The extra traffic generated by land development in the north-west corridor and the Neerabup industrial estate can be managed, provided we upgrade,’ the mayor said.
