ECU Joondalup recently hosted a seminar on innovation.
Economic Development Australia WA committee member Simon White said he organised the four-hour seminar to look at ways to promote local innovation.
“With the release of the National Innovation and Science Agenda, innovation has been brought to the centre of the national development stage,” he said.
“The national agenda positions innovation as the key to staying competitive, creating jobs and maintaining a high standard of living.
“It lays out national priorities for innovation but it says little about the role of state or local governments.”
Speakers included Vincent Mayor John Carey, WA Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation Matt Taylor, WA Small Business Commissioner David Eaton, Zellabox chief executive Angie Keeler, Curtin Business School program manager Michelle Chafin and Bloom founder Mark Shelton.
