ECU Joondalup researchers need senior participants for mental health and wellness study

ECU Joondalup psychology researchers need participants aged 65 or older for a mental health and wellness study.

The study aims to investigate help-seeking among older adults with chronic health conditions including asthma, respiratory disease (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or asthma), heart disease, heart failure, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

“We would like to better understand why people do or do not seek help,” Claire Adams said.

“This will inform the development of an intervention to promote help-seeking in the community.

“This is important because it appears that many people in need do not use available health services.”

Participants who have been diagnosed with a chronic disease will take part in a interview where they will receive a free mental health screening.
