Elderly sought for study

The project will examine the best way to develop and deliver activities which are relevant to older people.

Questionnaires have been posted to a sample of residents aged 60 years and older living in the City.

Residents, who can answer anonymously, are asked about their experiences accessing services and activities in the community.

Lead researcher Julie Dare from ECU’s School of Medical and Health Sciences said the aim was to improve older people’s participation in activities, and tailor programs and activities to meet their needs and preferences.

“If we can define how people are accessing activities in the community we are hoping to be able to advise the best way to design these services to allow the most people possible to take advantage of them,” Dr Dare said.
