Emerging fashion designers on show

The runway held at the City of Joondalup’s Reid Promenade multi-storey car park as part of the Urban Couture VIP launch saw designers Base by Ben, Rebecca Grim, Tamara Loo, Lauren Willems, Courtney Makins and Shannon Malone showcasing sport luxe looks and wearable art.

Hosted by Jerrie Demasi, the event also included a Q&A with event ambassadors and Romance was Born designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales.

Sales described fashion as a form of free speech saying people should wear whatever they wanted.

He also talked about dressing celebrities including Miley Cyrus and Cate Blanchett.

The event, now in its sixth year, is a dynamic fashion program that aims to support the West Australian fashion industry and bring designers, photographers, textile artists and creative entrepreneurs into the northern corridor of Perth.

Held at various locations throughout the City up to March 20, the event will feature work from students at Central Tafe, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University and Polytechnic West.
