Tayah, of Butler and Ihaia, of Girrawheen, appear as brother and sister Ngana and Jerome in the Perth season of the Rodgers and Hammerstein show, which plays at the Crown Theatre until December 8.

They star alongside Lisa McCune, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Christine Anu in the romantic musical set on a South Pacific island paradise.

East Butler Primary School pupil Tayah (8) has been singing with family since she was two, starting dancing lessons not long after. ‘It’s really exciting to be chosen for my first professional show and a great opportunity,’ she said.

Ihaia (9), who is at Hudson Park Primary School, is an old hand at performing.

‘I danced on stage in the Australian Performing Arts Network musicals-in-concert with Todd McKenney, who is awesome,’ he said. ‘I was shocked when I found out I got into South Pacific and really, really excited.

‘I couldn’t wait to dance, act and sing with others, especially famous people.’

Perth Symphony Orchestra provides the music for such favourites as Some Enchanted Evening, There is Nothin’ like a Dame and Happy Talk.

Tickets are available from Ticketek.
