About 25 students from the International Islamic University of Malaysia compared WA and Malaysian planning management protocols in bushland reserves.

They experienced tree planting and presentations from members of Friends of Yellagonga Regional Park.

Friends secretary Heather Chester said West Coast Institute lecturer Richard McDowell spoke about WA’s local flora and was assisted by his wife, Lola (a Nungyar woman) in presenting an Aboriginal perspective of the park.

‘Also the McDowells provided homemade quandong jam (the fruit of local trees) to be served for morning tea with scones and cream ” a treat the students all enjoyed,’ Ms Chester said.
