Exploring nature

Judges selected the 15-year-old’s $300-winning image ‘You’re Crashing But You’re No Wave’ from a shortlist of 20 entries after more than 70 students took part.

The competition was for City of Joondalup residents or students aged 12 to 18 and asked them to explore the local environment and provide a caption describing what the image meant to them.

‘Living by the ocean isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be and that some of our homes are a bit rougher than others,’ Bethany’s caption said.
