The Ashby resident said despite the ‘full-on’ four-days on three-days off schedule, preparing for the challenge gave him more opportunities to spend time with four-year-old daughter Kaili and 18-month son Parker.
‘It makes the ride longer, around the Joondalup Lake, because the kids want to stop at every park,’ Mr Pearson said.
‘But they’re good motivators, too, they have a bell and they ring it if I slow down.
‘It’s been good because it gets us out of the house, the kids get outside, I get my ride in and I get a break.’
After surpassing his goal of $500 in the first six hours, Mr Pearson raised $3475.
His employer BHP Billiton will match the amount he raised, which was the second highest in WA.
