After sell-out readings over the past few years, Poetry d’Amour, or ‘love poetry’, is again coming to Perth, with an evening reading at Perth Zoo’s Japanese Gardens.
Creator, poet, artist and storyteller Tineke Van der Eecken said she wanted to organise a quality poetry reading that everyone could enjoy.
‘To listen to the power of words and to spend a few hours together celebrating love honours the spirit of Valentine’s Day more than anything that can be bought,’ she said.
‘Good writing opens your mind to how other people experience love, and it is such a great theme to explore and listen to.’
The reading will feature 13 poets, including Amanda Joy, poetry heavyweight Mark Tredinnick and Joondalup poet Gary De Piazzi.
‘Unlike other poetry readings, Poetry d’Amour is designed for entertainment of a large audience, it’s not an intimate writers or poets-for-poets gathering,’ Van der Eecken said.
‘People who are not used to listening to poetry will enjoy the variety on offer, and those who do like poetry will see some of the best talent on stage.’
