A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said an emergency call about the fire on Swindon Lane came through at 5.59pm on August 23.

‘It was reported as a structure fire from someone in the area,’ he said.

Two fire trucks from Joondalup Fire and Rescue, as well as crews from Butler, Osborne Park and Wangara responded.

The spokesman said the fire was under control by 6.25pm, and involved six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

He said they were still investigating what caused the fire.

Police also attended, but a spokeswoman said the fire was not suspicious and the occupants had returned to find the house was ablaze.
