Fire ban in City of Wanneroo after fire crews tackle bushfires in Mariginiup and Currambine

UPDATE, 7.10pm: THE City of Wanneroo has declared a ban on vehicles in off-road areas and open air hot works for Sunday.

The ban includes the use of engines, vehicles, plant or machinery on non-gazetted roads and any open air hot works, including welding, grinding, cutting and heating.

It will be in place from 10am to 6pm on January 20 for the whole of the City and is subject to change.

EARLIER: FIREFIGHTERS are responding to bush blazes in Mariginiup and Currambine.

The Mariginiup fire was reported at 3.21pm near Buloke and Neaves roads and is now contained and under control.

The Currambine blaze was reported at 3.51pm near a bike path at Caledonia Park. Eleven crews are in attendance.

“There’s a lot of crews because it’s close to homes,” a DFES spokesperson said.

Helitacs are supporting fire crews on the ground.
