The junior beach and surf challenge, created by champion ironman Zane Holmes four years ago, attracted about 280 nippers aged 10 to 14 from State surf lifesaving clubs and some interstate.
It included surf and board races, beach sprints and iron men and women contests, with Mullaloo competitors in the top three of 28 of the 40 events, while Sorrento SLSC also finished in the top three of 13.
‘This was a great opportunity for Mullaloo to showcase not only our junior competitors’ surf skills, but also the pull of our club community in providing most of the logistics, set-up, water safety and catering requirements,’ Mr Tenaglia said.
