TO cast lines of communication was the ultimate goal for this trio of anglers.

Joe Venvich, Silvio Moscarda and Kelvin Quinlan settled in at Hillarys Boat Harbour on Thursday as part of the McAuley House fishing group.

McAuley day centre co-ordinator Bettina Philp hoped the new MercyCare activity, held monthly at various Perth jetties, would foster positive conversation between older men.

“As people age, they can sometimes become isolated or lonely, particularly men who generally speaking might not be as open as women are when it comes to talking about things,” she said.

With Men’s Health Week from June 15 to 21, MercyCare is promoting its 2015 theme of “moments in time” – the idea that even the seemingly insignificant moments can build to have a significant impact on men’s lives.
