Foodbank WA teams up with Westfield to help the hungry

Tyler BrownWanneroo Times

EVERY month it is estimated more than 7000 West Australians are turned away from charities empty handed because of a lack of food.

Foodbank WA is aiming to reduce this number through its new partnership with Westfield.

Foodbank WA is encouraging people to donate what they can this month at any Westfield centre in WA, including Whitford City shopping centre.

Most wanted items include canned tuna, ham, vegetables, fruit, soup and spaghetti, black tea bags and pasta sauce.

“Even just buying an extra can of food during your weekly shopping trip and then donating it can make a big difference,” Foodbank WA chief executive Greg Hebble said.

The Westfield Food Drive will run until September 30, with collection boxes placed in front of Woolworths at Whitford City.
