Football finding new fans

The nine-year-old round-ball fan, who does not follow the AFL but recognises West Coast Eagle Nic Naitanui, was chosen for the honour after becoming an Australian citizen with his family before the West Perth-Subiaco clash.

His family, with its Nigerian and South African heritage, have lived in Perth for a few years.

‘I feel good about it,’ he said of being chosen to toss the coin.

Abiola, who plays soccer for Sorrento and supported Germany in the World Cup final, admitted he now may have to take an interest in the Falcons and the oval-shaped ball game.
