FUNDING is being sought for six sporting facilities in the City of Wanneroo.

The City applied for $1.67 million from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries as part of its Community Sport and Recreation Facility Fund.

It is seeking $210,000 for floodlighting and extension of the oval at Addison Reserve in Merriwa, $461,333 for a sports amenities building at Belhaven Reserve in Quinns Rocks and $200,000 for changerooms and toilet facilities at Wanneroo District Netball Association’s building at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex in Madeley.

The other projects are $220,000 for floodlighting at John Moloney Park in Marangaroo, $457,667 for an amenities building at Shelvock Park in Koondoola and $119,476 for floodlighting at Heath Park in Eglinton.

If successful, the City will need to spend $4.7 million on the works.

Developer Stockland is expected to provide $238,954 for the Eglinton floodlighting while the State Government has committed $500,000 already for the netball facility upgrades in Madeley as part of an election promise.
