Despite hours of non-stop rain Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, accompanied by a few gusty winds, thunder claps and lightning flashes, nothing could dampen the spirits of the 85 teams taking part in the 24-hour Cancer Council fundraiser.
In fact, a record $350,000 was raised in the lead-up and during the overnight event, with still more funds expected to filter in over the next few days.
The seven-year life of the Joondalup Wanneroo relay has now raised more than $2 million for the Cancer Council.
