Girls’ galactic friendship forms

Miss Teen Galaxy finalists Olivia Patmore (16), representing Edgewater, and Alicia Tavani (14), representing Wanneroo, have joined forces to help raise funds for the Make a Wish Foundation and Wildlife Warriors charities.

The Mater Dei College students did not know they went to the same school before entering the competition.

They hope to raise $700 each.

‘We’re going to set up a stall at the Wanneroo Show, hold sausage sizzles and raffles and we’ve contacted the City of Wanneroo to sell chocolates at their Eskimo Joe concert in November,’ Olivia said.

Both girls have modelling experience and said the competition had given them new confidence.

‘I believe it teaches girls that beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes, there’s no requirement to enter the competition,’ Olivia said.

‘It teaches you a lot of confidence to go up and be yourself,’ Alicia said.

The girls will spend the rest of the year fundraising ” their efforts will contribute to their final judging in January.
