A CENTRE encouraging learning for Aboriginal families is blossoming in Girrawheen.

The Miya Kaadadjiny Learning Sanctuary helps community members learn cooking, craft sewing and gardening every Sunday.

The importance of the centre has been recognised by local politicians who recently contributed funds for a new stove after supervisor Angela Ryder put the call out for assistance.

Girrawheen MLA Margaret Quirk helped coordinate the purchase, with local white goods retailer Jonathan Andony offering a generous discount and arranging free delivery.
