The concept plan includes floodlighting and a sports amenities building at Grandis Park next to Joseph Banks Secondary College.
Councillors voted at last week’s meeting to support the City’s recommendations, which noted a grant application for $660,000 would be made to the Department of Sport and Recreation for the $3.4 million project.
The building design includes change rooms, a first aid room, toilets, kitchen facilities and a multi-purpose space for community use.
Cr Dianne Guise said it was a “badly needed facility” and Cr Frank Cvitan agreed it would be important for the area.
