Grant applications open for community projects

NORTHERN suburbs groups and residents are encouraged to apply for a range of grants offered by the Federal Government.

Politicians have been promoting several grant schemes relating to disability, friendship, environment and capital works projects.

Pearce MHR Christian Porter and Senator Dean Smith encouraged people involved in community infrastructure projects to contact the local MP’s office about the Stronger Communities program.

Applications close on October 10 and there is $150,000 available for up to 20 projects in each electorate.

Programs involved in empowering people with disabilities can also apply for Individual Capacity Building grants until September 30.

Senator Smith also encouraged community groups and charities that want to do projects in the Indo-Pacific region to apply through the Australian Aid: Friendship Grants program before September 10.

Moore MHR Ian Goodenough said people could also apply for funding for environmental projects through the Communities Environment Program, with applications closing October 10.
