FLASHING lights to warn motorists of a pedestrian crossing ahead have been installed on Hepburn Avenue in Greenwood.

The ‘wig wag’ signs installed before the pedestrian crossing at Karuah Way have been operational since Monday afternoon.

Kingsley MLA Andrea Mitchell said the number of cars travelling on Hepburn Avenue, which has a speed limit of 70km/h, was putting students, particularly from Greenwood College, and other pedestrians at risk.

“During the installation of the lights, the contractor commented to me that these lights were of paramount importance given the volume and speed of traffic,” she said.

Main Roads WA and the City of Joondalup provided funding.
