Hail and strong winds hit northern suburbs

A QUICK but heavy deluge of hail has hit the northern suburbs.

Wind gusts of up to 90km/h were recorded at Ocean Reef just after noon, which coincided with a heavy fall of hail in nearby suburbs.

Photos taken in Heathridge show hailstones covering the ground.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast gusty winds, small hail, rain and a possible thunderstorm today, with shower easing in the afternoon.

There is also the chance of a thunderstorm and hail early tomorrow morning but the sun will return on Saturday and Sunday.
