Charles Veryard played 44 games for the then Leederville-based Cardinals and four for Subiaco.

He was president of West Perth from 1939 to 1941 and president of the WA Amateur Association 1939 to 1941 and 1946 to 1962.

He was president of the Australia Amateur Council from 1957 to 1959 and enters the Hall of Champions with prolific South Fremantle full forward Bernie Naylor.

West Perth president Brett Raponi said the club was proud and thrilled for the Veryard family.

‘Charles was president of West Perth during our 1941 premiership year whilst also serving as president of the WAAA,’ Raponi said.

‘Charles was a great administrator in the war-torn years of the Cardinals in the WAFL who led strongly and passionately.

‘His record of volunteering and ‘putting up’ is something all West Perthies and West Australians can be proud of.’
