Ms McKenzie won the Community Support award for her work at The Centre for Cerebral Palsy, involved in an alternative to employment program.
In her role as a community support officer, Ms McKenzie has developed The Happiness Project, a program focused on the health and wellbeing for individuals with high support needs.
National Disability Services WA manager Terry Simpson said Ms McKenzie was passionate and dedicated in her work.
‘Through this program, Nerilee has supported individuals with a disability to seek lifelong learning, exercise choice, grow their emotional resilience and learn new ways to connect with others,’ he said. ‘She initiated the project and spends many personal hours working on it.’
